13 November 2009
Article provided courtesy of WA Police WA Police and its members have been blessed during a visit by the Indigenous and Community Diversity Unit to the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace. Venerable Monk Kunsang, one of the Jade Buddha’s keepers, offered the blessing for all WA police officers to be strong in bringing peace to the state and the world, and wished officers peace, prosperity and wellbeing. Indigenous and Community Diversity Executive Manager Robert Skesteris said the Ethnic Community Council of WA invited members of his unit to view the Jade Buddha, which was on display at the Perth Museum earlier this month as part of a world tour. “The blessings for us as individuals, and for the agency as a whole, were very special moments that were unplanned and totally unexpected,” he said. “It was an honour to accept a blessing on behalf of WA Police.” At 2.7m high and weighing five tonnes, the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace is the largest statue in the world carved from a single piece of gemstone-quality jade. |
